As a member of “Waterside Supporter of Arakawa River”, we have been conducting environmental conservation activities such as the extermination of the invasive alien species and the observation events since 2012.
This program has been implemented under “the Arakawa River Downstream, Natural Land Management Adopted System” that promotes the maintenance and conservation of the river environment.
In the morning session, the program was co-hosted by Tokyo Scout Council Sakura District, and included trash pickup and the living creatures observation event. In the afternoon session, our employees exterminated invasive alien plants and conducted an environmental study session.
Trash pickup
Living creatures observation event (divided into four groups of aquatic organisms (fish, crustaceans, etc.), birds, plants, and water quality, our employees introduced the characteristics of plants and animals, how to identify them, and river water pollution.)
Extermination of the invasive alien plants (including Tall goldenrod, etc.)
Environmental study session (measuring the quality of the Arakawa River using a water quality measurement kit)
