At the 5th Green Infrastructure Award, sponsored by the Green Infrastructure Public-Private Partnership Platform (led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism), the “Takayama Nishi IC Biotope - Hida Forest nurtured by the local community” project, which we are working on in collaboration with Hida Takayama High School, was jointly awarded the “Special Excellence Award”.
The Green Infrastructure Award is a system of recognition established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to recognize and promote green infrastructure initiatives.
This initiative involves the maintenance and management of a biotope in the Takayama-Nishi Interchange of the Chubu-Jukan Expressway. It has been carried out for 20 years in collaboration with Hida Takayama High School, the Takayama National Highway Office, Chubu Regional Development Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, construction consultants, and the Hida Regional Eco Road Study Committee.
We are providing support to the high school students in the management and maintenance of the project, as well as offering guidance in environmental studies.
In addition, on January 27, 2025, to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the completion of the biotope, an environmental study session was held at Hida Takayama High School to learn about Nature Positive and green infrastructure.
