Project name:2024 Keihin Area Waterfront Field Survey (River Space Utilization Survey) Project
Client name:Keihin River Office, Kanto Regional Development Bureau, Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism
As part of the “National Survey On Natural Environment In River And Watershore”, we conducted a pilot project to identify river users and automatically count their numbers using drone imagery processed with AI technology during a River Space Utilization Survey in the Tamagawa, Tsurumi, and Sagami River systems.
We conducted a pilot project of an automated identification and counting system for river users, using drone imagery with AI technology (Faster R-CNN). This enabled us to accurately count users even in areas that were previously difficult to observe visually, thereby demonstrating the system's effectiveness.
Furthermore, it is highly regarded as an advanced method that contributes to improving the efficiency of surveys and reducing the risk of heat stroke, and its nationwide rollout is expected to generate significant ripple effects.
